How To Make Arby’s Steakhouse Onion Rings Copycat Recipe

Step One: Slice onions into thick rings. Soak in buttermilk for 30 minutes.

Step Two: In one bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, baking powder, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. In another bowl, whisk eggs with 2 tablespoons of buttermilk.

Step Three: Dip each onion ring in flour mix → egg wash → flour mix again. Then press into panko breadcrumbs. Preheat the air fryer for 3-5 minutes at 400 degrees F.
Step Four: Lightly spray the basket with oil. Arrange battered onion rings in a single layer, spraying the tops with oil too. Set cook time for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.

Pro Tips for Success
- Use sweet or yellow onions for best flavor and size.
- Double-dip in batter for an extra thick coating like Arby’s.
- Don’t overcrowd your fryer—it lowers the oil temp and leads to soggy rings.
- For a spicy twist, add cayenne pepper or hot sauce to your batter.
- Panko is key to that steakhouse-style crunch—don’t skip it!
Storing & Reheating
Store: Keep leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
Reheat: Pop them in the air fryer at 375°F for 4–5 minutes to get them crispy again.

What to Serve With Steakhouse Onion Rings
These rings are perfect with BBQ ribs, burgers, or even piled high on a pulled pork sandwich. Pair them with Arby’s Horsey Sauce, spicy mayo, ranch, or chipotle aioli for dipping.
FAQs
Can I make these ahead of time? You can prep the rings and refrigerate them for a few hours before frying. Fry just before serving for best crunch.
Can I freeze the onion rings? Yes! Freeze after battering. When ready, fry from frozen or air fry at 400°F until crispy.
What’s the best oil for frying? Vegetable, peanut, or canola oil all work well—just use one with a high smoke point.
Can I make them gluten-free? Swap flour for a gluten-free blend and use gluten-free breadcrumbs.
