Ingredients Needed For Artichoke Stuffed Chicken
As it bakes, chicken stuffed with artichoke spinach dip will fill your kitchen with mouthwatering aromas!
Remember the step-by-step directions and detailed ingredient list below in the printable recipe card at the bottom of this post and the nutritional information.
- Chicken Breasts: This is the base of this recipe – use thicker ones, they are easier to stuff. Avoid slicing them all the way through!
- Trader Joe’s Artichoke Spinach Dip: A store-bought dip this good saves time without sacrificing flavor.
- Olive Oil: The olive oil or butter coats the outside of the breasts so they don’t dry out and it also helps to give them a nice sear.
- Garlic Powder: This enhances the flavor of the meat. Use powder, not salt.
- Onion Powder: I always pair garlic powder with onion powder because they taste amazing together.
- Grated Parmesan or Mozzarella Cheese: This is optional, but I love how the melted cheese tastes on top.
- Fresh Herbs: Garnish the stuffed breasts with fresh herbs to add more aromatic properties.
How To Cook Stuffed Chicken Breasts In Air Fryer
Kids and adults of all ages love cheesy stuffed chicken breasts! And they are easier to make than they look. There are just a few easy steps in this classic weeknight dinner recipe.
Step One: Prepare The Chicken.
Preheat your air fryer to 375 degrees F (190°C), for 3-5 minutes. Using a sharp knife, create a pocket in each chicken breast by slicing crosswise from one side to nearly the other side, being careful not to cut all the way through.
Step Two: Season The Chicken
Rub the chicken breasts with olive oil or melted butter. Sprinkle both sides with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
Step Three: Stuff The Chicken
Take generous spoonfuls of Trader Joe’s Artichoke Spinach Dip and stuff them into the pockets of the chicken breasts. If using cheese, sprinkle it on top of the dip or mix it in with the dip before stuffing. Place 2-3 asparagus spears into each stuffed chicken breast.
Note: Wash your hands really well after this step.
Step Four: Air Fryer Stuffed Chicken Breasts
Brush the outside of each stuffed chicken breast with olive oil. Place the stuffed chicken breasts in the preheated air fryer basket. Set cook time for 20-25 minutes, turning them halfway through.
Note: Cook the chicken until it reaches and internal temperature of 165F.
Step Five: Serving
Once cooked, remove the skillet from the oven and let the chicken rest for a few minutes. This helps to redistribute the juices so they don’t run out once sliced into. Transfer the chicken breasts to plates, garnish with optional fresh herbs, and serve.
Pro Tips For Making Artichoke Stuffed Chicken In Air Fryer
It doesn’t take a professional to make this family-favorite recipe. Here are a few tips that will help you make it outstanding the first time.
- Preheat the air completely. The breasts will cook evenly if the oven is fully preheated.
- Use a digital thermometer. Having an instead read thermometer on hand is always a good idea, especially when cooking meat. It’ll give you an accurate reading to let you know when it’s done without overcooking or undercooking your meat.
Every bite of artichoke dip stuffed chicken is a delight! Don’t be surprised if it becomes one of your most requested recipes!
Recipe Variations:
There are a lot of ways to change this simple recipe. Here are a few of my favorite ways to change spinach stuffed chicken.
- Make your own dip. If you have a recipe for cream cheese spinach dip, make it yourself.
- Spicy stuffed chicken. Add some diced jalapenos to the stuffing.
- Stuffed Chicken Thighs. Slice and stuff chicken thighs instead of breasts.
- Additional Seasoning. If Parmesan cheese on the outside isn’t your thing, feel free to rub your choice of herbs and spices on the outside before adding the pieces to the skillet.
