Some nights, even chopping an onion feels like too much. That’s exactly why I love dump and go crockpot meals. You open a few cans and packages, dump everything into the slow cooker, press start and walk away. Dinner is ready when you get home.
I’ve rounded up 25 of my family’s favorite dump and go slow cooker recipes here at Fork To Spoon. There’s no browning, no sautéing and almost no chopping. Most take 5 minutes of hands-on time and use ingredients you probably already have in your pantry.
Whether you’re feeding picky kids, meal prepping for a busy week or just want something cozy waiting at the end of the day, you’ll find a new favorite below.
Why you’ll love these recipes:
- 5 minutes of prep. Open, dump, stir, done.
- Budget friendly. Pantry staples and affordable cuts of meat.
- Freezer friendly. Most can be bagged and frozen ahead.
- Family approved. Familiar flavors everyone will eat.
- Fewer dishes. One pot does all the work.
What Is a Dump and Go Crockpot Meal?
A dump and go crockpot meal is a slow cooker recipe where every ingredient goes into the pot raw, with no pre-cooking. There’s no browning the meat or softening vegetables on the stove first. The slow cooker handles all of it.
These recipes lean on shortcut ingredients like canned beans, jarred salsa, cream soups, frozen vegetables, seasoning packets and bottled sauces. Those do the flavor work, so you don’t have to.
Tips for Perfect Dump and Go Slow Cooker Recipes
- Layer smart. Put firm vegetables like potatoes and carrots on the bottom, closest to the heat. Meat goes on top.
- Don’t overfill. Keep the crockpot between half and two-thirds full for even cooking.
- Keep the lid on. Every peek adds 15 to 20 minutes of cooking time.
- Add dairy at the end. Stir in cream cheese, sour cream or shredded cheese during the last 30 minutes so it doesn’t curdle.
- Thaw meat first. USDA guidance says frozen meat shouldn’t go straight into a slow cooker, because it can sit too long in the temperature danger zone.
- Go low when you can. LOW gives more tender meat. As a rule, 1 hour on HIGH equals about 2 hours on LOW.
- Use a liner. Slow cooker liners make cleanup almost nonexistent.

Dump and Go Crockpot Meals FAQ
Can I put raw meat in a crockpot without browning it?
Yes. Raw meat cooks safely in a slow cooker as long as it’s thawed and reaches a safe internal temperature: 165°F for chicken, 160°F for ground beef and 145°F for whole cuts of pork and beef. Browning adds flavor but isn’t required.
Can I put frozen meat in the slow cooker?
It’s not recommended. Frozen raw meat can stay in the bacterial danger zone (40°F to 140°F) too long. Thaw it overnight in the refrigerator first. Fully cooked frozen meatballs, like the ones in our meatball vegetable soup, are the exception.
How long can a crockpot meal stay on warm?
Most recipes hold well on WARM for 1 to 2 hours. Longer than that and meat can dry out and pasta can turn mushy.
Do I need to add liquid to a dump and go crockpot meal?
Usually some. Sauces, broth or canned tomatoes keep the meat moist. Large fatty roasts release their own juices, so they need less.
What are the easiest dump and go crockpot meals for beginners?
Start with Easy Crockpot Shredded Chicken, 3 Ingredient Crock Pot Pork Chops or 4 Ingredient Slow Cooker Chicken and Stuffing. Each uses four ingredients or fewer and is very hard to mess up.
Can I cook these on HIGH instead of LOW?
Yes. Cut the cook time roughly in half. Tough cuts like chuck roast and pork shoulder get more tender on LOW.
