I’m a massive fan of the Instant Pot. It’s a beautiful tool for cooking pasta super fast, and it also makes some of my favorite dishes, including risotto and carnitas. This recipe is one of my favorites because I get to use one of my favorite ingredients: broccoli rabe. You’ll need an Instant Pot or pressure cooker, but don’t worry-they’re not that expensive! - Italian Sausage
- Minced Garlic
- Red Pepper Flakes
- Broccoli Rabe
- Grated Parmesan Cheese
- Water
- Salt
- Black Pepper
How To Make Instant Pot Penne with Sausage and Broccoli Rabe
Step One: Start by removing the casings from the sausage, and then add them to the Instant Pot, saute’ until they are cooked and crumbly.
Step Two: Then rinse out the Instant Pot bowl, add the pasta and water. **Note: The pasta should be covered with water. Watch the fill line, and make sure it’s slightly over.
Step Three: Set the manual high pressure for 4 minutes, making sure that the vent is sealed. When the time is up, do a quick release.
Step Four: Drain the pasta. Return to the Instant Pot. Add about 1/2 cup of water, add the broccoli rabe and press the saute’ button. I added the lid so that the steam from the water and pasta would cook the broccoli rabe. It took about 4 minutes, but the broccoli was softened.
