How To Make Air Fryer Stuffed Grape Leaves
Step One: Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Cut it into squares or rectangles large enough to wrap around the stuffed grape leaves.
Step Two: Add about 1-2 teaspoons of Tzatziki sauce, and spread it over the entire rectangle. Then, take a grape leaf and place it on a square, or rectangle of puff pastry.
Step Three: Roll the puff pastry up, covering the grape leaves, and seal the ends, by pinching them. Repeat this process with the remaining grape leaves and puff pastry squares.
Step Four: Place the wrapped grape leaves in the air fryer basket, making sure they are not overcrowded. You may need to do this in batches, depending on the size of your air fryer basket. Set air fryer temperature to 375 degrees F, and set cook time for 10-12 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden brown and crispy. Flip halfway through the cooking time for even browning.
Note: I brushed melted butter on top, for the signature golden brown color.
Air Fryer Stuffed Grape Leaves Recipe Tips
- Use Fresh Leaves: If you can, use fresh grape leaves for more flavor. If using jarred leaves, rinse them well to remove excess brine.
- Choose Your Filling: Try different fillings by adding herbs like dill, mint or parsley, mix in with the tzatziki sauce.
- Puff Pastry: Thaw the puff pastry before using and roll it out slightly thinner for a crisper texture.
- Don’t Overstuff: Don’t overfill the puff pastry. A little filling will allow the leaves to cook evenly and roll up tight.
- Use Toothpicks: If the puff pastry unravels, use toothpicks to secure them before putting them in the air fryer.
- Spray for Crispiness: Lightly spray the stuffed grape leaves with cooking spray, melted butter, or brush with olive oil before air frying for crispiness.
- Check for Doneness: Cooking times may vary depending on your air fryer. Check for golden brown color and filling is heated through.
- Serve with Tzatziki: Best served with tzatziki sauce on the side for dipping. It’s a game changer.
- Store Leftovers: If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the air fryer.
