Recipe Variations

- Spicy kick: Add cayenne pepper, chili powder, or Cajun seasoning to the breadcrumb mix.
- Cheesy version: Mix grated Parmesan or Romano into the breadcrumbs.
- Herb-flavored: Add dried oregano, basil, or Italian seasoning for extra flavor.
- Low-carb swap: Use almond flour or crushed pork rinds instead of breadcrumbs.
How To Make Air Fryer Copycat Hamburger Hamlet’s Zucchini Zircles

Step 1: Slice the zucchini into 1/3-inch thick rounds so they cook evenly.

Step 2: Lay the slices out, sprinkle with salt, and let them sit for about 30 minutes to draw out excess moisture. Rinse and pat dry.

Step 3: Dip each zucchini slice into beaten egg, then coat it right away in breadcrumbs.

Step 4: Place the breaded zucchini in a single layer in the air fryer—don’t overcrowd the basket. Spray lightly with olive oil. Air fry at 350°F for 5 minutes. Flip, spray again, and cook another 5 minutes until golden and crispy.
Step 5: Serve hot and enjoy while they’re crunchy.

Air Fryer Copycat Hamburger Hamlet’s Zucchini Zircles Recipe Tips
- Salt matters: Don’t skip the salting step—it pulls out excess water so your zircles actually crisp instead of turning soggy.
- Dry well: After rinsing, pat the zucchini completely dry. Wet zucchini = limp coating.
- Keep slices even: Cut all rounds the same thickness so they cook at the same speed.
- Don’t crowd the basket: Air flow is what creates crunch. Overlapping = steamed zucchini.
- Use a light oil spray: A quick mist helps the breadcrumbs turn golden and crisp.
- Flip for even crunch: Turning halfway ensures both sides get that fried-style texture.
- Eat right away: These are best fresh—waiting too long softens the coating fast.
Storing, Freezing and Reheating Instructions
- Storing: Store leftover zucchini zircles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Place a paper towel in the container to help absorb excess moisture and keep them from getting soggy.
- Freezing: Freeze cooked zucchini zircles in a single layer on a baking sheet, then transfer to a freezer-safe bag or container. They can be frozen for up to 2 months for best texture and flavor.
- Reheating: Reheat in the air fryer at 350°F for 3–5 minutes until hot and crispy again. Avoid microwaving since it will make the coating soft and soggy.

Other Cooking Instructions
- Oven method: Bake zucchini zircles at 425°F on a parchment-lined baking sheet for 18–22 minutes, flipping halfway through. Spray lightly with oil before baking for a crispier finish.
- Pan-frying method: Heat a thin layer of oil in a skillet over medium heat and cook zucchini zircles for 2–3 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels to remove excess oil and keep them crispy.
- Toaster oven method: Arrange on a lined tray and bake at 425°F for 15–20 minutes, flipping once. Lightly spray with oil before cooking for better browning.
Air Fryer Copycat Hamburger Hamlet’s Zucchini Zircles Recipe Faqs
Why are my zucchini zircles soggy? They usually turn soggy when the zucchini isn’t salted and dried properly. Too much moisture prevents the coating from crisping in the air fryer.
Do I need to peel the zucchini? Nope, leave the skin on. It helps the zircles hold their shape and adds extra texture.
Can I make these ahead of time? Yes, you can bread them a few hours ahead and store them in the fridge before air frying. Just keep them uncovered or lightly covered so they don’t get soggy.
What dipping sauces go best with them? Ranch, marinara, garlic aioli, or spicy mayo all pair really well. The mild zucchini flavor works with just about anything.
Can I make them without breadcrumbs? Yes, almond flour or crushed pork rinds work for a low-carb version. They won’t be exactly the same, but they still crisp up nicely.
Why do I need to flip them in the air fryer? Flipping helps both sides brown evenly and stay crispy. Skipping it can leave one side soft.
