What Is Cherry Crumb Pie?

Cherry Crumb Pie is much easier to make than a traditional cherry pie. There are three layers to a Cherry Crumb Pie, the bottom layer (crust), the middle layer (fruit), and the top crumble mixture.

All you need to do with the air fryer is blind bake the crust, fill in the pie filling, top with the crumble topping, and then air fry again. This makes an incredible dessert and is so easy.

This is also a great recipe to get the kids involved with cooking since it’s so easy, and cooking with the kids with the air fryer is amazingly easy! Just remember to watch them. The air fryer basket gets very HOT.

How To Make Air Fryer Cherry Crumb Pie

Spray your pie pans with cooking spray, and then either using homemade or prepared pie dough, place the dough in and cover the bottom and sides of the pie pan.

Air Fry for 5 minutes at 300 degrees F, air fryer setting, Depending on which air fryer you own, you may need a set of pie weights so the dough does not fly away.

Note: You are air frying only the pie crust so that the bottom layer gets fully cooked. If you skip this step, you will end up with a soggy crust.

In a small bowl, mix the old-fashioned oats, flour, brown sugar, salt, and butter. Mix until the topping resembles crumbles.

Add the cherry pie filling on top of the crust, and then sprinkle some of the crumble on top of the pie. Place back into the air fryer at 300 degrees F, air fryer setting for 4 to 6 minutes.

The Key To Making The Perfect Cherry Crumb Pie Topping

One thing I learned about making crumb pie topping is that the butter really needs to be cold. So, either freeze the butter or take the butter right out of the refrigerator, as you want to make this. Please do not leave it out while the pie crust is baking.

You will end up without a crumb pie topping. So, remember, cold butter is best.

Can you freeze Air Fryer Cherry Crumb Pie?

Yes, this is a great make-ahead dessert using your Air Fryer. To make it, all you need to do is, let the pies cool to room temperature and then cover them tightly with saran wrap. Place into the freezer.

They will last about 1 to 2 months.

To Use From Frozen: Place the frozen pie into the refrigerator overnight, and then heat up in the microwave or the air fryer.

Using Homemade Crust:

You can switch out the prepared pie crust I used for a homemade one; the instructions will not change.

Using Homemade Pie Filling:

You can also change this out using a homemade pie filling. I love the farmer’s market and always look for homemade products that I can use in my Air Fryer Recipes. Some of my favorite pie fillings are:
