Air Fryer Apple Pie Mug Cake is an amazing and fun dessert that can be made in minutes with your air fryer’s help. Loaded with traditional apple pie flavors, including some great and tasty cinnamon-coated apples, this makes for a great treat for the entire family.
The hardest part about making this apple pie mug cake is waiting for the air fryer to finish cooking. But, I made a batch last night while I was washing the dishes, so when my dishes were done, so were the apple pies.
I made this dessert with canned apples since apples are currently out of season, and I always seem to have a can of apple pie filling in the house. So, grab a few pantry staples and make this delicious dessert, breakfast, or snack. My kids loved it, so it’s definitely kid-friendly.

Pro Tips
Crafting a delicious Air Fryer Apple Pie Mug Cake requires a blend of ingredients, technique, and creativity. Here are some professional tips to help you perfect this delightful treat, ensuring a dessert that’s both comforting and satisfying:
- Select the Right Apple Variety: Choose apples that hold up well to cooking, such as Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Golden Delicious, for a balance of sweetness and tartness that mimics classic apple pie.
- Dice Apples Finely: Cut the apples into small, even pieces to ensure they cook thoroughly and evenly within the quick baking time of a mug cake.
- Pre-cook the Apples: Consider pre-cooking the apples with cinnamon and sugar in the microwave for a minute or two to soften them and enhance their flavor before adding them to the batter.
- Use the Right Mug: Ensure your mug is air fryer-safe. Ceramic or glass mugs holding at least 8 ounces are ideal, providing enough space for the cake to rise without overflowing.
- Avoid Overmixing the Batter: Mix the batter until just combined. Overmixing can lead to gluten development, making the cake tough rather than light and fluffy.
- Adjust Cooking Time as Needed: Check for doneness a few minutes before the suggested cooking time ends. Air fryers can vary significantly in how they heat.
- Add Toppings for Extra Flair: A dollop of whipped cream, a scoop of vanilla ice cream, or a drizzle of caramel sauce can turn your mug cake into a more decadent treat.
- Experiment with Spices: In addition to cinnamon, consider adding a pinch of nutmeg or allspice to the apple mixture to elevate the flavor profile of your apple pie mug cake.
By following these pro tips, your Air Fryer Apple Pie Mug Cake will satisfy those sudden dessert cravings and impress anyone lucky enough to enjoy this quick and easy treat.
