What Is An Air Fryer Donut?

There are actually two types of donuts, there are homemade donuts, which I have been mastering lately, and there are biscuit donuts!

With the help of a special donut pan, which we do not use when making biscuit donuts, you can get a perfect air-fried up batch without the need for any oil. Making them a healthy and delicious alternative.

What Are Biscuit Donuts?

Biscuit donuts are not new, although they have been increasingly popular due to the rise of popularity of the Air Fryer.

My grandmother was making biscuit donuts back in the 1950s, with my mom and her sisters and brothers. They were traditionally fried up in a hot skillet filled with oil.

While the air fryer is the perfect way to make biscuit donuts, they do not require a lot of oil, and they are considered relatively healthy.

Air Fryer Biscuit Donut Ingredients
  • Biscuits: You can use any refrigerated biscuits. From Trader Joe’s, Aldi’s, or even Pillsbury Grand Biscuits!
  • Butter: Use unsalted butter for the best flavor!
  • Powdered Sugar
  • Milk: If you have a milk allergy, you can use oat milk, almond milk, or even lactose-free milk.

How To Make Biscuit Donuts

Cut the Biscuits Out

Layout the biscuits on a cutting board, and then, using your biscuit cutter, cut the center out.

Melted Biscuits on tray Biscuit Air Fryer

Melt your butter, which is a great way to get them to be more donut-like than a biscuit. Soak your biscuit in for a minute or two.

As you dip them, please place them in your air fryer basket or air fryer oven tray. Both should be greased with cooking spray.

Place them into your air fryer (middle shelf if you have an oven) and set the timer for 4 minutes at 330 degrees F, air fryer setting.

Remove when golden brown.

Biscuit Donut Glaze

In a small bowl, mix your confectionary sugar and milk. Add 1 tablespoon of milk in at a time until you have a glaze that you can dip the donuts in. You want it not extremely runny, but not hard either.

How do I Store Leftover Donuts?

If you have any donuts leftover, place them into an airtight container and leave them at room temperature.

As they cool, they will harden, so for best results, eat within the first couple of hours after you make them.

Reheat Donuts In Air Fryer

Yes, they are so much better warm. So if you have any leftovers,  set them into the air fryer basket and set the temperature to 300 degrees F, and rehat for 2 to 3 minutes, until warmed through.

You will have to make a new batch of icing since reheating will melt off most of the icing, but that will really freshen up your donuts!
