How to Make Air Fryer Copycat Taco Bell Crunchwrap Supreme

Step 1: Cook the ground beef

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and cook the ground beef, breaking it up into small crumbles as it browns. Once fully cooked, drain any excess grease.

Stir in the taco seasoning, cumin, garlic powder, and onion powder. Add a splash of water, mix well, then reduce the heat. Let it simmer until the mixture thickens and the liquid mostly cooks off. Remove from heat and set aside.

Step 2: Add the meat and cheese

Preheat your air fryer to 400°F for about 5 minutes so it’s hot and ready. Lay a large 12-inch tortilla flat on a clean surface. Add a portion of the cooked ground beef in the center, then spoon nacho cheese right on top.

Step 3: Top with tostada and veggies

Place a tostada shell over the beef and cheese layer. Add tomatoes, shredded lettuce, and a dollop of sour cream. Set a 6-inch tortilla on top, then fold the edges of the larger tortilla up and over, working your way around to seal it tightly.

Lightly coat the air fryer basket with cooking spray, then place the wrap seam-side down inside. Give the top a quick spray to help it crisp up evenly.

Air fry for 4 minutes, then flip the wrap and lightly spray again. Cook for another 4 minutes, or until both sides are golden brown and crispy.

How to Fold a Crunchwrap

If you’ve never folded a Crunchwrap before, this is the step that intimidates people. It’s actually simple once you see the pattern.

  1. Lay your 12-inch tortilla flat on the counter.
  2. Pile your fillings in the center in a circle about 4 inches across — don’t spread them to the edges.
  3. Working around the tortilla like a clock face, fold the edge up and over the fillings in pleats — about 6 to 8 pleats, each one overlapping the last.
  4. Press the pleats down into the center to seal. The result should look like a closed pinwheel or hexagon.
  5. Cook seam-side down first. This is critical — the weight of the wrap presses the pleats together as the tortilla heats and crisps, sealing it shut.

If you can fold a paper fan, you can fold a Crunchwrap.

Tips for the Best Copycat Crunchwrap

  • Use a 12-inch burrito tortilla — anything smaller won’t fold correctly. If you can’t find them, use a 10-inch and a small 6-inch tortilla on top to “patch” the seam.
  • Warm your tortilla first. A cold tortilla cracks when you fold it. 15 seconds in the microwave under a damp paper towel makes it pliable.
  • Don’t overfill. Tempting as it is to load it up, the seal won’t hold. Stick to about ½ cup of total filling per Crunchwrap.

Description

Ingredients 

  • 4 12 inch tortillas
  • 4 6 inch flour tortillas
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons taco seasoning
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/2 cup nacho cheese
  • 4 large tostada shells
  • 1 large tomato, diced
  • 1/2 cup lettuce, shredded
  • 1/2 cup sour cream

Instructions

  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the beef, breaking it up into crumbles. Once there is no pink left, drain off any excess liquid from the meat, and return it to the skillet.
  • Season with taco seasoning, cumin, garlic powder, and onion powder, stir to combine. Make sure the seasonings coat the meat. 
  • Add the water, stir to combine, low the heat to a low simmer, and let the sauce thicken until most of the water has evaporated. Take off the heat and set it aside.
  • Preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees F for 5 minutes, air fryer setting.
  • Take a 12-inch tortilla and lay it on a clean work surface. Add 1/4 cup of the meat mixture. 
  • Top with 1/4 of the nacho cheese, add a tostada on top, add 1/4 of the tomatoes, lettuce, and sour cream. Place a 6-inch tortilla on top.
  • As tightly as you can, warp the bottom larger tortilla around the sides, folding it over as you go.
  • Spray the inside of the air fryer with olive oil spray.
  • Place the wrap, seam side down, into the air fryer. 
  • Spray the top with cooking spray. 
  • Air fry for 4 minutes, flip halfway through, and spray with more olive oil spray.
  • Repeat with the remaining crunch wraps.
  • Plate, serve, and enjoy!
