Instant Pot Steel Cut Oats

Instant Pot Steel Cut Oats — today, we will show you how to make steel-cut oats in your Instant Pot! A quick and easy breakfast that you can make ahead of time.

Instant Pot Steel Cut Oats

Steel-cut oats are a great source of fiber, protein, potassium, magnesium, and manganese. They also benefit from being gluten-free, so they’re perfect for those with celiac disease or other food sensitivities. Make these steel-cut oats the next time you want something hearty on a cold day or when you need to devour something before running out the door! Plus, it’s just as simple as using your microwave but without all the cleanup!

With this recipe, you can make steel-cut oats in your Instant Pot in just 3 minutes. The best part is that it’s super easy to customize them by adding seasonal fruit, nuts or seeds, chocolate chips, or even cinnamon if you’re feeling adventurous. These recipes are all gluten-free, too, so there’s no need to worry about having a kitchen full of pots and pans when cooking these delicious dishes!

Some of my favorite Instant Pot Steel Cut Oat Recipes are INSTANT POT, EASY BANANA NUT BREAD OATMEAL, and INSTANT POT EASY APPLE PIE OATMEAL.

What Are Steel Cut Oats?

Steel-cut oats are a type of oatmeal made from whole-grain kernels that have been chopped into smaller pieces. They are then soaked in hot water for at least 20 minutes to soften the oats and make them more digestible. This process also releases some of the natural sugars found in the grains, giving steel-cut oats a slightly sweeter taste than other types of oatmeal. You can flavor Steel-cut oats with cinnamon, brown sugar, or dried fruit before cooking and after cooking for added flavor and nutrition.

Steel Cut oats are groats that have been cut into pieces. They are steel-cut because the grain is flattened with a blade before being processed, which gives them their coarse texture. Steel Cut Oats were traditionally eaten by Scottish Highlanders who would crush or “chop” the oat grains to make porridge. Today, they are commonly used in recipes for hearty breakfasts and dinners and baked goods like cookies and cakes.

You can find steel-cut oats in many grocery stores, but if you want to buy them online (see sources), then it’s easier than ever! I love using my blender to grind fresh fruit and nuts for toppings on top of these delicious morsels of breakfast heaven!

Steel Cut Oats vs. Rolled Oats – Which is Better?

Steel-cut oats and rolled oats are both quick and easy to cook, but we know that not all types of oats are created equal. Steel-cut oats have a much thicker texture than rolled oats. The steel-cut variety also has more fiber, protein, and nutrients than the quicker-cooking rolled variety. When you add in some fruit or nuts for toppings to either type of oatmeal, it can be an excellent breakfast meal with staying power.

Steel-cut oatmeal is much thicker than the faster-cooking rolled version, so no matter which one you choose, you’ll end up with a hearty breakfast that will stick with you through your morning commute or workout. Add some fresh fruit or nuts for flavor and top off your bowl of hot cereal with

To Make Ahead

This is a great and easy breakfast ht you can make ahead of time. Make Instant Pot Steel Cut Oats per the recipe directions below, and then let the steel-cut oats cool to room temperature. Then place the oast into an airtight container, and placed it in the refrigerator. It will last for about 2 to 3 days.

You can either reheat in the microwave or in a small saucepan if you want to reheat it with more milk or water. That would really rehydrate them.

How To Freeze:

This makes for an amazing freezer meal. Just like Trader Joe’s sells its Frozen Steel Cut oats, you can make your own in the Instant Pot.

Make it per the directions below, and then let the steel-cut oats cool to room temperature. Then ladle the steel-cut oats into a freezer bag or freezer-safe container. Place them into the freezer, where they will last about 2 to 3 months.

Thaw in the refrigerator overnight and then reheat in the microwave or a small skillet. Add some milk or water to rehydrate them.

What To Serve Instant Pot Steel Cut Oats With?

Steel-cut oats are not just for breakfast anymore! Once considered a hearty morning meal, steel-cut oats have now become the go-to grain for dinners. They make a great side dish.

Some popular options to serve steel-cut oats with are:

  • Fresh Fruit
  • Maple Syrup
