Ingredients Needed

Ingredients needed for Air Fryer Rustic Chicken Tart on kitchen table.
  • Shredded cooked chicken –Use Trader Joe’s Just Chicken, fully cooked and seasoned, or leftover rotisserie chicken.
  • Frozen spinach, thawed and squeezed dry –Thawed frozen spinach, moisture removed for best texture.
  • Brie cheese –Creamy firm Brie, cut small for even melting.
  • Pecans –Roughly chopped pecans for crunch and nutty flavor.
  • Pie dough (already prepared) –Store-bought pie dough, ready to unroll and use.

How To Make Air Fryer Rustic Chicken Tart

Roll out the pie dough on a flat surface.

Step One: Start with 2 cups of shredded cooked chicken. Use any pre-cooked chicken for convenience. Thaw frozen spinach and squeeze out all the excess moisture. This step is crucial to prevent a soggy tart.

Step Two: Cut Brie cheese into 1-inch pieces. Measure out ¼ cup of pecans.

Spread the cooked, diced chicken over the pie crust.

Step Three: Roll out the pie dough on a lightly floured surface to a size that will fit in your air fryer basket. You can trim the edges to make it round or leave it rustic with an irregular shape.

Step Four: Transfer the dough to a piece of parchment paper. This will make it easier to move the tart in and out of the air fryer.

Place the squeezed spinach on top of the chicken.

Step Five: Spread the shredded chicken evenly over the pie dough, leaving a border of about 1 inch around the edges. Top the chicken with the squeezed dry spinach, then scatter the Brie cheese pieces and pecans over the spinach.

Sprinkle the pecans and brie cheese on top of the other toppings.

Step Six: Gently fold the edges of the dough over the filling, overlapping as necessary to create a border. Preheat your air fryer to 350 degrees F (175°C).

Step Seven: Carefully transfer the tart along with the parchment paper into the air fryer basket. Set cook time for 15-20 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese has melted. Once the tart is cooked, allow it to cool slightly in the basket before transferring it to a serving plate. Cut into wedges and serve warm.

Air Fryer Rustic Chicken Tart Recipe Tips

  • Use parchment: Line the basket with parchment paper for easy transfer and cleanup.
  • Don’t overcrowd: Make sure your tart fits comfortably in the basket so air can circulate properly.
  • Brie tip: Remove the rind if you prefer a creamier melt and milder flavor.
  • Spinach prep: Squeeze out all moisture from the spinach to avoid a soggy tart.
  • Just Chicken hack: Trader Joe’s Just Chicken works perfectly and saves tons of prep time.
  • Keep edges rustic: Don’t stress about perfection—uneven folds add charm!
  • Layer wisely: Put chicken first, then spinach, followed by cheese and pecans for best texture.

Storing, Freezing and Reheating

  • Storing: Store leftover tart in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Let it cool completely before sealing to avoid condensation and sogginess.
  • Freezing: Wrap individual tart slices tightly in plastic wrap and place in a freezer-safe bag or container. Freeze for up to 2 months for best flavor and texture.
  • Reheating: Reheat in the air fryer at 350°F for 5–7 minutes until warmed through and crisp. You can also use an oven or toaster oven, but avoid microwaving—it may make the crust soggy.

Air Fryer Rustic Chicken Tart Recipe Faqs

Can I use fresh spinach? Yes, just sauté and squeeze out excess moisture before using.

What can I use instead of Brie? Try goat cheese, mozzarella, or fontina for a good melt and flavor.

Can I make it ahead of time? Yes, assemble and refrigerate (uncooked) for up to 24 hours.

Can I bake this in the oven? Absolutely, bake at 375°F for 25–30 minutes until golden.

Do I need to blind bake the dough? No need! The air fryer crisps the crust perfectly without it.

How can I make it vegetarian? Skip the chicken and add sautéed mushrooms, roasted peppers, or extra greens.
