How To Make this Crispy Chicken Fritta Olive Garden Recipe

Follow these easy step-by-step instructions to make perfectly crunchy chicken fritta. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced cook, this recipe is easy to follow and quick to prepare.

Chicken in a bowl with flour

Step 1: Prepare the chicken

Start by pounding the chicken breasts to an even thickness. This helps them cook evenly and ensures the coating sticks better. Season both sides with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.

Step 2: Set up your breading station

Set up three bowls for breading: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with a mixture of panko breadcrumbs and grated parmesan cheese.

Coating the chicken with the breadcrumbs, parmesan, and seasonings.

Step 3: Bread the chicken

Dredge each chicken breast in the flour, shaking off any excess. Dip it into the beaten eggs, letting the excess drip off, and then press it into the breadcrumb mixture, making sure it’s fully coated. Repeat for all the chicken breasts.

Step 4: Preheat the air fryer

Preheat your air fryer to 375 degrees F for about 5 minutes. This ensures the chicken starts cooking immediately for the crispiest results.

Step 5: Air fry

Lightly spray the air fryer basket with oil to prevent sticking. Place the breaded chicken breasts in the basket, leaving space between them for even cooking. Spray the tops of the chicken with a little more oil to help them crisp up.

Cook for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the chicken is golden brown, crispy, and has an internal temperature of 165 degrees F.

Step 6: Serve & enjoy

Once the chicken is crispy and cooked through, serve it with your favorite pasta and sauce.

Fritta Chicken Pro Tips

  • Double Coat for Extra Crispiness: For extra crunch, dip the chicken in the egg and breadcrumb mixture twice before air frying.
  • Don’t Overcook the Chicken: Cook just until golden brown to keep the chicken tender and juicy.
  • Toss Pasta in the Sauce: Mixing the pasta with Alfredo sauce before serving makes it creamier and pairs perfectly with this crispy chicken fritta olive garden recipe.

Chicken Fritta Olive Garden Recipe FAQs

Can I use chicken thighs instead of chicken breasts?

Yes! Chicken thighs are a juicier, more flavorful option. Just keep in mind they may take a little longer to cook, so adjust the time accordingly.

How do I keep the chicken crispy after frying?

Place the cooked chicken on a wire rack over a baking sheet in the oven. This helps air circulate around it, preventing sogginess.

Can I make this crispy chicken fritta gluten-free?

Absolutely! Use a gluten-free flour blend and gluten-free breadcrumbs for the coating. The rest of the recipe stays the same.

Can I prepare the chicken in advance?

Yes! You can bread the chicken and refrigerate it for a few hours before cooking. This helps the breading stick better and results in a crispier crust.

Can I bake the chicken instead of using an air fryer?

Yes, you can bake the chicken at 400 degrees F for about 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through.

Can I use frozen chicken breasts?

For the best results, use thawed chicken breasts to ensure even cooking and proper breading. If using frozen chicken, thaw it completely in the refrigerator before prepping.

What sauce pairs well with this recipe?

Alfredo sauce or marinara are classic choices, but a creamy garlic sauce or even a lemon butter sauce would also taste amazing.

What’s the best way to store chicken fritta?

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. For longer storage, freeze in a single layer before transferring to a freezer-safe container for up to 3 months. Reheat in the air fryer at 350 degrees F for 5-7 minutes or in the oven at 375 degrees F for 10-15 minutes to keep it crispy.
