How To Roast Marshmallows In The Air Fryer

Roasting marshmallows in the air fryer is easier than using a campfire or stove, and of course, you can do it in the comfort of your home.

All you need is an air fryer and marshmallows. You can use any type of marshmallow, but mini marshmallows work best.

The trick is to line your air fryer basket with aluminum foil. Note: You really want to make sure that your aluminum foil, has NO CHANCE of hitting the element. Otherwise, you will either end up with a fire or a broken air fryer.

Step One: Simply place the marshmallows onto the aluminum foil, in the air fryer and set the air fryer temperature to 375 degrees F. Set cook time for 3-5 minutes, or until the marshmallows are golden brown.

Air Fryer Roasted Marshmallows Recipe Tips

  • Line the air fryer basket with foil or parchment to prevent sticky messes.
  • Leave space between marshmallows so hot air can circulate and brown them evenly.
  • Start checking at the 3-minute mark—marshmallows go from golden to scorched fast.
  • Use regular or jumbo marshmallows; minis melt too quickly.
  • Serve right away for the best gooey center, or sandwich them into s’mores while hot.

Serving Suggestions

  • Sandwich the hot marshmallows between graham crackers with chocolate for instant air fryer s’mores.
  • Spoon them over brownies, cookies, or ice cream for a gooey dessert upgrade.
  • Dip roasted marshmallows into melted chocolate, peanut butter, or caramel sauce.
  • Serve alongside a hot chocolate bar and let everyone top their own mug.
  • Add them to a dessert board with fruit, wafers, and chocolate pieces.

Air Fryer Roasted Marshmallows Recipe Faqs

Can you really roast marshmallows in the air fryer? Yes! The air fryer roasts marshmallows quickly and evenly, giving you a golden outside and a soft, melty center—no campfire required.

What type of marshmallows work best? Large marshmallows work best because they hold their shape and roast evenly. Mini marshmallows can melt too fast and make a mess.

Should I use foil or parchment paper? Yes. Lining the basket with foil or parchment paper prevents sticking and makes cleanup easy.

Why did my marshmallows blow around? Marshmallows are light! Using foil with slight edges or a small oven-safe dish keeps them from moving during cooking.

Can I make s’mores in the air fryer? Absolutely. Roast the marshmallows first, then sandwich them between graham crackers and chocolate for easy air fryer s’mores.

Are air fryer marshmallows safe for kids? Yes, but let them cool slightly before serving. The inside gets very hot and sticky.

Can I store leftover roasted marshmallows? They’re best enjoyed fresh. Once cooled, they harden and lose that gooey texture.
