- Beer: Standard 32 ounces beer keeps chicken moist and juicy
How To Make Air Fryer Beer Can Chicken

Step 1: Pour beer into a large bowl, making sure it’s big enough to fully fit your chicken. The amount of beer needed will depend on the size of your chicken.
Step 2: Rub the chicken all over with olive oil, then coat it generously with your seasoning blend. Massage the spices into every part of the chicken so it’s fully covered. Place the chicken into the beer mixture in a large bowl, cover tightly with aluminum foil, and refrigerate. Let it marinate for up to 24 hours for the best flavor.

Step 3: Remove the chicken from the beer mixture and discard the liquid. Place the chicken in the air fryer basket on its side, season again if needed, and cook at 350°F for 30 to 45 minutes, flipping halfway through until fully cooked and golden.
Remove the Chicken when the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees F.

Air Fryer Beer Can Chicken Recipe Tips
- Pat the chicken dry first: This helps the skin crisp up instead of steaming.
- Don’t skip seasoning under the skin: That’s where the real flavor hits.
- Use a sturdy bowl for marinating: Make sure the chicken is fully supported in the beer mixture.
- Let it marinate longer if you can: Overnight gives deeper flavor than a quick soak.
- Avoid overfilling with beer: You only need enough to partially submerge the chicken.
- Flip carefully in the air fryer: Use tongs or spatulas to keep the chicken stable.
- Check internal temperature: Aim for 165°F in the thickest part of the meat.
- Let it rest before cutting: This keeps the juices inside instead of running out.
Storing and Reheating Instructions
- Storing: Store leftover air fryer beer can chicken in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3–4 days. Keep the meat sliced or whole and make sure it’s fully cooled before sealing.
- Reheating: Reheat in the air fryer at 350°F for 3–5 minutes until warmed through and the skin re-crisps. You can also microwave it in short intervals, but the skin will be softer.

Air Fryer Beer Can Chicken Recipe Faqs
Do I really need beer for this recipe? Nope. The beer mainly adds moisture and subtle flavor. You can swap it with chicken broth, soda, or even water.
Can I make this without an air fryer? Yes, you can roast it in the oven at 375°F until it reaches 165°F internally. The air fryer just speeds things up and crisps the skin better.
How do I know when the chicken is done? Use a meat thermometer and check the thickest part of the thigh. It should read 165°F with no pink juices.
Why is my chicken not crispy? Too much moisture is usually the issue. Pat the chicken dry before seasoning and avoid overcrowding the air fryer.
Can I skip marinating? Yes, but marinating adds deeper flavor. Even 30 minutes helps if you’re short on time.
What size chicken works best? A 3–4 pound whole chicken fits most air fryers and cooks evenly without burning the outside.
Do I need to flip the chicken? Yes, flipping halfway helps it cook evenly and prevents one side from over-browning.
