Air Fryer Apple Churro Bites these bite-sized, apple-juice-spiked churros are crisp on the outside, tender inside, and rolled in warm apple pie spice sugar. They come together in about 25 minutes, no deep fryer and no oven required. Perfect for a party, an after-dinner treat, or a sweet snack whenever the craving hits.

If you love a classic churro but want a little fall flavor, this is the recipe for you. Swapping water for apple juice in the dough and using apple pie spice in the coating gives these bites a cozy apple-cider taste that sets them apart from a standard cinnamon churro. They are easy enough for a weeknight and impressive enough for company.
What Is A Churro?
A churro is a cylindrical Spanish pastry made from a simple flour-and-water dough that is piped through a star tip and fried until golden, then rolled in cinnamon sugar. They are popular across Spain and Latin America and are usually served with chocolate or caramel sauce for dipping. This version skips the deep frying and uses the air fryer instead.
What Makes These Apple Churro Bites Different?
Two things: apple juice and apple pie spice. The apple juice goes into the dough in place of water, so the apple flavor is baked right in. The coating swaps plain cinnamon for apple pie spice, which adds cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice for a fuller, more autumnal flavor. The result tastes like apple cider in churro form.

The step-by-step directions, full ingredient list, and nutrition information are in the printable recipe card at the bottom of this post.

- Apple Juice: Regular or low-sugar both work.
- Granulated Sugar: Use a sugar substitute such as Splenda for a lower-sugar or diabetic-friendly version.
- Butter: Use unsalted.
- All-Purpose Flour: Swap in a gluten-free all-purpose blend to make these gluten-free.
- Apple Pie Spice: Homemade or store-bought.
How To Cook Apple Churro Bites In Air Fryer
These come together quickly on the stovetop before they ever hit the air fryer.

Step 1: Whisk together granulated sugar and apple pie spice in a small bowl. Set aside.

Step 2: In a saucepan over medium heat, combine apple juice, sugar, and butter. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.

Step 3: Stir in the flour using a wooden spoon until the mixture forms a smooth dough. Remove from heat.

Step 4: Let the dough cool slightly, then transfer it to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Line the air fryer basket with parchment paper and pipe small churro bites.
Step 5: Lightly spray the churro bites with butter spray and cook at 400°F for 8–10 minutes, until golden and crisp. Spray again with butter spray while warm, then toss the churro bites in the spiced sugar until fully coated.

Pro Tips For Air Fryer Churro Bites
- Don’t crowd the basket. Leave space around each churro so the hot air can circulate and crisp every side.
- Flip if needed. Depending on your air fryer, flipping the churros halfway through can help them brown evenly.
- Watch the timing. Every air fryer runs a little differently, so keep an eye on them as they cook.
- Coat while hot. Roll the bites in the spiced sugar while they are still hot so the sugar sticks.
How To Store Churros
Let the churros cool to room temperature, then store them in an airtight container. They keep at room temperature for 2 to 3 days.
How To Serve Churros
Serve these warm with a dipping sauce. They are especially good with homemade caramel sauce, but chocolate sauce or a simple dusting of powdered sugar works too.
How To Reheat Churros In The Air Fryer
- Add a little extra spiced sugar on top for the best flavor.
- Place the churros in the air fryer basket.
- Set the temperature to 330°F.
- Cook for 3 to 5 minutes, until warmed through.

Frequently Asked Questions
CCan I make these without apple juice? Yes. Substitute water for a plain churro, or try apple cider for an even stronger apple flavor.
Do I need a star tip? A star tip gives churros their classic ridged shape, which helps them crisp up. In a pinch you can pipe them with a plain round tip or a zip-top bag with the corner snipped, though the texture will be slightly different.
Can I make them gluten-free? Yes. Use a gluten-free all-purpose flour blend in place of the regular flour.
Why are my churros not crispy? Usually it is overcrowding or too little spray. Give each bite room in the basket and don’t skip the butter cooking spray before air frying.
