Ingredients For the Air Fryer Pizza Dip Recipe
- Cream cheese: Start with softened cream cheese, ideally the full fat version. You could use low fat cream cheese too, but it won’t have the same rich, fatty deliciousness.
- Mayonnaise: Again, full fat mayonnaise is best! Choose a good brand of unflavored, classic mayo.
- Sour cream: To add a bit of tanginess and flavor to the dip. Substitute this with Greek yogurt if you can’t find it.
- Seasonings: I used a mix of onion powder, salt, black pepper and some Italian seasoning to add flavor to the dip. Feel free to use what you like.
- Cheese: I used cheddar and mozzarella cheese here for that wicked cheese pull, but you could also use Parmesan, Mexican blend or Monterey Jack.
- Garlic: Fresh minced garlic works the magic, and adds a beautiful layer of flavor and aroma to the dip. Garlic powder can work in a pinch.
- Pepperoni: Because of course, what is pizza without pepperoni?
Variations & Substitutions
- Make the pizza dip meaty by adding in some cooked and crumbled Italian sausage and top it with some crispy bacon bits.
- Load it up with veggies- add in some chopped bell peppers, mushrooms, onions and olives too!
- Fancy a spicy pizza dip? Throw in some chopped jalapenos or some homemade buffalo sauce to add that kick of heat.
- To make the dip healthier, use cottage cheese instead of sour cream.
- Add a dash of marinara sauce into the cheese mixture and top the dip with chopped basil to lend it that authentic Italian pizza flavor.
How to Make Air Fryer Pizza Dip
Prepare the mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine mayonnaise, cream cheese, sour cream, seasonings, garlic and other cheeses until you get a uniform mixture. Set a bit of cheese aside.
Fill up: Spoon some of the mixture into ramekins until they’re about ¾ full, and then top them with the pepperoni slices and remaining cheese.
Air fry: Place the ramekins in the Air Fry basket and cook for 5-7 minutes at 400 degrees, or until the cheese is melty on the top.
Top and serve: Get the ramekins out carefully (they’ll be hot) and top them with chopped basil or your favorite seasonings and enjoy!
Tips & Tricks to Make Pizza Dip in the Air Fryer
- Make sure you start with softened cream cheese- ideally at room temperature. This makes it easier to mix the cheese with other ingredients and get that uniform, creamy consistency.
- Air frying can blow the pepperoni slices over, so don’t forget to top them with some cheese before you air fry the dip.
- All Air Fryers are different and cooking times may vary slightly depending on the kind of device you’re using.
- Use oven mitts or a pair of tongs to handle the hot ramekins as you remove them out of the Air Fryer.
- If you don’t have ramekins, use any oven-safe containers or pans that can fit in your Air Fryer. If you have tiny cast iron skillets or pans that can fit in the basket, they’re perfect!
- To make the dip extra fluffy, use a hand mixer to combine everything and then spoon the mixture out into small containers or ramekins.
Storage Instructions
Refrigeration: Store your leftover Air Fryer pizza dip in the refrigerator for up to 4 days, and reheat whenever you want to enjoy it. I would recommend storing it in the same baking dish- just cover it up with plastic wrap and you’re good to go. Alternatively, you can transfer it to an airtight container and refrigerate it.
Reheating: To reheat the pizza dip, microwave it for 5-6 minutes, pausing every 30-40 seconds. You can also preheat your Air Fryer and pop the baking dish in for 4-5 minutes to warm it up.
Serving Ideas & Suggestions
Serve this cheesy Air Fryer pizza dip with some crusty sourdough or Italian pull apart bread rolls.
When I have a bit of extra time, I love making my 3 ingredient pizza puffs to go with the dip.
I also love pairing the dip with my low carb mozzarella sticks, bacon wrapped pickle dippers and easy cheese straws.
And if you want to keep things a bit healthy, serve the dip with crispy Air Fryer eggplant chips, sea salt kale chips or some Air Fryer veggie chips.
