Ingredients Needed

Ingredients needed for Air Fryer Dog Treats on kitchen table.
  • Whole Wheat Flour: I opted for using whole wheat flour. For a healthy option, you can also use all-purpose flour
  • Eggs: I used large eggs
  • Canned Pumpkin: Be sure not to grab pumpkin puree. Otherwise, it will be too sweet.
  • Butter: I used unsalted butter.
  • Water: Use cold water
  • Seasonings: Salt and Ground Cinnamon

How To Make Air Fryer Dog Treats

Mixing flour, eggs, pumpkin, and spices into a dough for homemade dog treats.

Step One: Combine the flour, eggs, canned pumpkin, butter, salt, and ground cinnamon in a large bowl. Slowly add water until it reaches the consistency of dough.

Rolling out dog treat dough and cutting shapes with cookie cutters on a floured surface.

Step Two: On a floured surface, roll out the dough until about ⅓ inch thick, and then using your cookie cutters, cut out the shapes.

Step Three: Layout a parchment paper into the air fryer basket, and add the cut-out dog treats. Be careful to leave plenty of space around the biscuits.  Set the air fryer temperature to 370 degrees F, air fryer setting, and set cook time for 4-6 minutes, or until the biscuits are fully cooked. Remove biscuits and let cool completely before serving the dogs or storing them.

Air Fryer Dog Treats Recipe Tips

  • Use dog-safe ingredients only – Avoid using xylitol, nutmeg, or chocolate. Stick to pup-friendly items like pumpkin, peanut butter (xylitol-free), and whole wheat flour.
  • Adjust the dough consistency – If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour. If it’s too dry, mix in a bit of water until it’s workable.
  • Roll evenly for consistent cooking – Keep dough thickness around ¼ to ⅓ inch so the treats cook evenly in the air fryer.
  • Let them cool completely – Always cool the treats before serving to your dog to avoid any risk of burning their mouth.

Storing Instructions

  • Room Temperature: Store cooled dog treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
  • Refrigerator: For longer freshness, refrigerate them in a sealed container for up to 2 weeks.
  • Freezer: Freeze in a freezer-safe bag or container for up to 3 months. Thaw before serving.
