Everyone loves homemade chicken tenders. Today, I pulled out my air fryer and made some homemade air fryer crispy chicken tenders.

This is the perfect homemade chicken tender recipe, they come out really crispy and add a dipping sauce, or two, and they are the perfect kid-friendly meal. They will soon forget about the fast-food restaurants and be begging you to make these.

The air fryer is a great way to make healthy meals, these chicken tenders taste like the deep fryer, but you get none of the calories from oil. All of the flavor and you save hundreds of calories.

My Favorite Air Fryer

I love all of my air fryers in different ways, my current favorite is the Instant Pot Vortex Plus. You can make anything from cookies to pancakes and it cleans up in a breeze.

Some Of My Other Top Air Fryer Recommendations:

  • GoWise, 5.8. This is a great air fryer, with a large capacity air fryer basket.
  • Emeril’s 360-Great air fryer with lots of functions.

With only a few ingredients you can have a great meal, Air Fryer Crispy Chicken Tenders

  • Chicken Tenders-If you can not find chicken tenders in the grocery store, simply purchase chicken breast and cut them into strips.
  • Panko breadcrumbs, which really crisps up nicely in the air fryer.
  • Paprika
  • Salt
  • Black Pepper
  • Oregano
  • Garlic powder
  • Onion powder
  • Mayonnaise
  • Olive Oil Spray

Here are the really Simple Directions:

In a large mixing bowl, mix together the panko bread crumbs, paprika, salt, black pepper, oregano, garlic powder, and onion powder.

In a large Ziploc plastic bag, add the mayonnaise.

Then coat your chicken with the mayonnaise and then roll the coated chicken with the panko mixture.

As you coat the chicken with the mayonnaise and panko breadcrumb mixture, place the chicken into the air fryer basket. The basket should be sprayed with olive oil, so the chicken does not stick.

Spray the chicken with olive oil, coating all of the bread crumbs, so the chicken does not dry out. Plus the olive oil helps the chicken crispy up.

Set the temperature to 390 degrees F, (air fryer setting) for 5 minutes, after 5 minutes, flip the chicken and spray it with olive oil and then air fry for another 5 minutes.

Plate, serve, and enjoy a plate of Air Fryer Crispy Chicken Tenders!

Tips For a Crispy Coating

The best way to get a great crispy coating is by spraying the breading with olive oil spray. This allows the heat source to hit the breading and causing it to crisp. If you do not use olive oil spray, the coating will become dry and have white spots.

Another tip is to make sure that all of the chicken tenders are approximately the same size, so they cook at the same time.

Do not crowd the basket, the air fryer needs to have space for the air to circulate.

How to Store Any Leftover Air Fryer Chicken Tenders:

Allow the chicken tenders to reach room temperature, and then place in an airtight container. These will keep for about 2 to 3 days. To reheat them, simply add them back into your air fryer at 330 degrees F, for about 4-6 minutes.

Freezing Instructions: Simply make them, and allow them to cool down to room temperature, then add the tenders to an airtight container or Ziploc bag, and freeze. To use from the freezer, place them in your air fryer and air fry at 390 degrees F, for 9-12 minutes.
