What Is A Cobbler?

A cobbler is a type of dessert typically made with fruit filling and a biscuit or cake topping.

The name “cobbler” comes from the Cobbler’s Union, a British society for protectors of trade rights for cobblers.

There are many different types of cobblers, but all variations include some baked fruit filling and a crust or topping. Whether you’re looking for an easy dessert to whip up for a summer BBQ or want to impress your guests with something more sophisticated, cobbler recipes are always crowd pleasers!

What Are The Best Apples For Baking?

Baking is a delicious way to show your loved ones that you care. But what kind of apples should you use for the best results? Here are three of the best apples for baking, perfect for any recipe!

  1. Granny Smith apples are tart and firm, making them perfect for pie fillings or toppings. They’re also great for crisping up in a crumble or pie crust.
  2. Honeycrisp apples are sweet and juicy, with a slightly crisp texture. They’re perfect for slicing into wedges or using in quick breads or muffins.
  3. Braeburn apples are tart and tangy, with a firm texture that makes them ideal for pie fill

Do I Need To Peel The Apples?

When it comes to cooking, there are a lot of debates over what’s necessary and what’s not. One of the longest-running arguments is whether or not you need to peel apples before cooking them.

Some people swear by never peeling an apple, while others say it’s a must-do step. I like to peel the apples, as I find the skins don’t cook all the way through, so you end up with some chewy apple pieces in your cobbler. Since I am looking for a great dessert, I take a few more minutes and peel them.

How To Store:

No one wants their cobbler to go to waste, so follow these simple tips on how to store apple cobbler, so it lasts longer.

Let it cool to room temperature, and then place it into an airtight container. Set in the refrigerator, you can safely store it for 2 to 3 days. If you want to reheat it before serving, reheat in the microwave heat until warmed through.

Make-Ahead and Freezer Instructions

You can prepare the apple filling and store it in an airtight container for up to 3 days; however, since this recipe is so easy to make, I prefer to make it fresh.

You can freeze this for up to three months. Let the cobbler cool to room temperature, and then place it into a freezer-safe container or freezer bag.

When ready to eat this frozen dessert, defrost overnight in the refrigerator. Then heat in the microwave, air fryer, or oven until warmed through.

What Pan To Use In The Air Fryer

An air fryer is a fantastic appliance that has gained popularity in recent years. It’s a great way to cook food without using a lot of oil, making it a healthier option. But with so many different types of pans on the market, it can be challenging to know which one to use in your air fryer.

Some of my favorite pans to bake cobbler in the air fryer are:

Suwimut 4 Pack Mini Pie Pans, 5 Inches Carbon Steel Round Nonstick Bakeware Set for Baking Pies, Cakes, Tart, Desserts (Gold)

Cast Iron Skillet – 6″-inch Frying Pan with Drip-Spouts – Preseasoned Oven Safe Cookware – Indoor/Outdoor Use for Camping – Grill, Stovetop, Broiler, BBQ, Fire Pit, Gas, Smoker, and Induction Safe
