What Is An Air Fryer?

If you haven’t seen or heard of an air fryer before, you might be wondering what all the fuss is about. So, what exactly is an air fryer? An air fryer is a small appliance that uses hot air to cook food. It’s similar to a convection oven, but it can cook food faster and at a lower temperature. Air fryers work by circulating hot air around the food, which helps cook it evenly on all sides. And because air fryers don’t rely on oil for cooking, they can be a healthier option than deep-frying. So if you’re looking for a quick and easy way to cook up some chicken or fries, an air fryer might be the kitchen appliance for you!

What Are Dog Treats?

Dog treats are a type of food that is specifically designed for dogs. They come in various shapes and sizes, and they can be made from a variety of different ingredients. Most dog treats contain protein, such as beef, chicken, or fish. This protein provides essential nutrients that help to keep your dog healthy and active. In addition to protein, the dog also treats often contain carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, and minerals. You can use dog treats for various purposes, such as training, reward, or straightforward enjoyment. When choosing a dog treat, it is essential to select one that is appropriate for your dog’s age, size, and activity level.

What Are Homemade Dog Treats?

Homemade dog treats are a healthy and delicious alternative to store-bought options.

They are simply Dog biscuits or Dog cookies made at home, usually from scratch. The ingredients used in these treats are generally healthy and natural, without any of the preservatives or artificial additives found in store-bought varieties. Homemade dog treats can be given as training rewards, snacks, or a special way to show your furry friend some love. And they’re not just for dogs – many cats enjoy them too!

Ingredients Needed For Homemade Dog Treats

Looking to make some delicious and healthy homemade dog treats? An air fryer is a kitchen appliance that can help you do just that! Here are the ingredients you’ll need to get started:

  • Whole Wheat Flour: I opted for using whole wheat flour. For a healthy option, you can also use all-purpose flour
  • Eggs: I used large eggs
  • Canned Pumpkin: Be sure not to grab pumpkin puree. Otherwise, it will be too sweet.
  • Butter: I used unsalted butter.
  • Water: Use cold water
  • Seasonings: Salt and Ground Cinnamon

On a floured surface, roll out the dough until about ⅓ inch thick, and then using your cookie cutters, cut out the shapes.

Layout a parchment paper into the air fryer basket, and add the cut-out dog treats. Be careful to leave plenty of space around the biscuits.  Set the temperature to 370 degrees F, air fryer setting, and cook for 4 to 6 minutes, or until the biscuits are fully cooked.

Remove biscuits and let cool completely before serving the dogs or storing them.

Pro Tips:

Storage: Keep your treats fresh and delicious by storing them in an airtight container away from moisture, heat, or light.

Pumpkin For Dogs: Pumpkin is considered excellent for dogs, with plenty of vitamin A, C and E. But, you should check with your vet before giving them to your dog in case of any adverse effects.  You can also make these with creamy peanut butter if you prefer. The recipe will remain the same.

Frequently Asked Questions:

How many treats can I cook at one time?

Air fryers come in all shapes and sizes! Depending on what air fryer you own, you will be able to make about 4 to 8 of these at a time. The key is to leave plenty of space around the dog treats so they cook up to perfection. You do not want them to be touching each other. Otherwise, you will end up with raw or undercooked spots.

Can I halve this recipe?

Yes, if you only want to make a few homemade air fryer biscuits, you can divide this recipe by two. The recipe and cooking time will work precisely the same.

How do I get soft or crunchy treats?

The perfect treat is one that your dog will love and enjoy. They should be crunchy on the outside, with some softness between each piece. However, if you are looking for crispy air fryer dog treats, add a couple of minutes to the cooking time.

How To Make These In An Air Fryer Oven Or Regular Oven

These can quickly be cooked in a regular oven. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and cook for 12 to 15 minutes, or until they are golden brown.
