Pro Tips For Air Frying Chicharrones

Preheating: Do not preheat for this recipe. You want them to crisp up perfectly, and preheating is not required.

Crowding: This is a straightforward recipe. The key is to make them in a single layer to get the same heat. I added the entire bag in the first batch I made, and I was left with some not cooked and some burnt. So, for best results, do several batches where you have them on one layer.

Shaking: For best results, shake your basket several times during the cooking process.

Oil: You can use any high heat oil, I used olive oil, but some other great options are avocado oil, grapeseed oil, and even coconut oil. I would not recommend using vegetable oil because of the low smoke point, and your kitchen will become very smoky.

How To Store:

Let the chicharrones cool to room temperature, and then place them into an airtight container or a Ziploc bag. They will last for about 2 to 3 days before softening.

Flavor Variations:

These literally can be flavored with almost anything. Some great combinations are:

  • Chili Seasoning
  • Ranch Dry Seasoning Mix
  • Everything Sesaoning
  • Lemon and Garlic Seasoning

Dipping Sauces:

These are authentic Mexican delights that you can serve with either Homemade Salsa or Homemade Guacamole. Both pair well.
