How about some Air Fryer Fried Pierogies? These are perfectly breaded and then air fried to perfection. Served with a side of sauce, this is the perfect lunch or quick appetizer or snack!

My husband grew up in Ohio, where these are sold everywhere. I grew up in Boston and in an Italian neighborhood. I have never heard of seen pierogies until I ventured to Ohio. And of course, I had to try them.

I went to the West Side Market (which is huge), and a vendor was selling deep-fried pierogies, and they were fabulous. Today, I tried my hand at the air fryer version, same great taste, without the oil!

Simple Directions:

  2. Then coat them with the bread crumb and cheese mixture.
  3. Spray your air fryer basket or tray with olive oil, and then place the coated perogies on them. Set in the air fryer for 5 minutes at 400 degrees F, then flip and air fry for another 3-4 minutes.

Here are the simple steps to make them in your air fryer,

This is the item I used in this recipe, I love Mrs. T’s, the ones I used were stuffed with cheese (talk about a double treat!)

Description

My husband grew up in Northern Ohio, and he loves pierogies, so I usually have a box in the freezer. My sister in law was over this weekend and wanted to know if I could “deep fry” them, which is a popular dish where they grew up.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package frozen pierogies
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup Italian bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • Optional: marinara sauce for serving

Instructions

  1. In one bowl mix together the egg and milk, mix well, then add a couple of pierogies and let soak for a minute or two.
  2. Then coat them with the bread crumb and cheese mixture.
  3. spray your air fryer basket or tray with olive oil, and then place the coated perogies on them. Set in the air fryer for 5 minutes at 400 degrees F, then flip and air fry for another 3-4 minutes.
  4. Plate, serve, and enjoy!

No, cook them from frozen. They will have a better texture.
