Air Fryer Apple Pie Dump Cake is one of the easiest air fryer desserts you will ever make.

This recipe is so easy! All dump cakes are! We call them dump cakes because all you do is dump the ingredients into a pan. Then you just have to cook up the ingredients. In the end, you will have an amazingly easy and tasty dessert.

I have always been a fan of dump cakes. Mostly because I do not consider myself to be a great baker. However, I am a GREAT hacker.

Usually, how I approach my cooking is probably like most of you. I look on my pantry shelves, figure out what I have, and come up with something from those ingredients.

The other day, I noticed that I had an unopened box of cake mix and a can of apple pie filling, and I started to think, what could I make with these? Because I am a big fan of desserts, if you couldn’t tell.

So, I thought I could get a sweet dessert if I mixed the two. So, I made it and served the Air Fryer Apple Pie Dump Cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and to my surprise, it came out fantastic.

My kids were amazed that you could mix two unrelated things and create a dessert. They promptly wrote down another cake mix on our shopping list.

Dump cakes are great for several reasons, mostly because they are:

  • EASY!
  • Taste amazing,
  • Ingredients On Hand: You can keep these two ingredients in the pantry, and if you need a sudden dessert for company, you can whip it up.

Air Fryer Apple Pie Dump Cake

Air Fryer Apple Pie Dump Cake

Air Fryer Apple Pie Dump Cake offers a delicious twist on traditional apple pie, combining the ease of a dump cake with the innovative cooking technique of an air fryer. This dessert is incredibly simple to prepare, making it perfect for when you crave something sweet and comforting but don’t want to spend hours in the kitchen. The “dump” aspect of the cake refers to the method of preparation – you “dump” the ingredients into the pan without the need for meticulous layering or mixing.

To create this delightful dessert, start by spreading canned apple pie filling at the bottom of an air fryer-safe pan, ensuring an even layer for consistent cooking. Next, sprinkle a box of dry cake mix over the apple pie filling, creating a crumbly, even layer. Drizzle melted butter over the top, which will help the cake mix to brown and crisp up, mimicking the texture of a traditional pie crust. The magic happens in the air fryer, where the heat circulates around the pan, cooking the cake to perfection with a crisp top and a gooey apple layer underneath. The result is a harmonious blend of flavors and textures – the warm, cinnamon-spiced apple filling complements the buttery, crisp topping, creating a rustic and satisfying dessert. Serve the Apple Pie Dump Cake warm, possibly with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a whipped cream dollop to elevate this humble dessert into a gourmet treat.

Remember the step-by-step directions and detailed ingredient list are below, in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post, as well as the nutritional information.

  • Apple Pie Filling: The cornerstone of this dessert, apple pie filling provides a sweet and spiced base brimming with tender apple slices and a rich, cinnamon-infused sauce.

  • Yellow Cake Mix: This convenient pantry staple adds a buttery, sweet layer to the cake, creating a delightful contrast in textures when combined with the apple pie filling.

  • Melted Butter: Drizzled over the cake mix, melted butter enriches the cake’s flavor and achieves a perfectly golden and crispy top layer reminiscent of a traditional pie crust.

These three simple ingredients come together in the air fryer to create a dessert that’s easy to prepare and full of comforting, home-baked flavors.
