Ingredients
4frozenTrader Joe's Hash Browns
1teaspoonscooking spray , or avocado oil spray, optional
1/4teaspoonsalt, to taste
1/2teaspoonblack pepper , to taste
Instructions
Preheat your air fryer to 400°F for 3–4 minutes
Place 4 Trader Joe's frozen hash brown patties in a single flat layer in the air fryer basket with a small gap between each one. Do not stack or overlap. Optionally spray the top of each patty with 1 teaspoons cooking spray or avocado oil spray (optional) for extra golden color.
Air fry at 400°F for 5-6 minutes, without opening the basket. Let the bottom side develop a full crust before flipping.
Open the basket and flip each patty using a spatula or tongs. If a patty sticks, give it 1 more minute — a crisped patty releases easily. Return to the air fryer and cook for another 4–5 minutes until both sides are deeply golden brown.
Transfer to a plate and rest 2 minutes — the crust continues to firm up as it cools. Season with 1 pinch salt and black pepper to taste if desired and serve immediately while hot and crispy.
For McDonald's-style crispiness: Cook 11–13 minutes total and spray the tops with avocado oil before cooking.Do not thaw first — frozen patties go straight from freezer to basket for the best shape and crispiness.Batch cooking: Second batch cooks 1–2 minutes faster since the air fryer is already hot — check early.Reheating leftovers: Air fryer at 350°F for 3–4 minutes, flipping halfway. Never microwave — makes them soft.Breakfast sandwich: Use 2 patties as the bun — layer egg, cheese, and bacon between them for a fast-food-style sandwich at home.
