While the classic Caesar salad with its creamy, tangy dressing, cheese, and croutons is always a hit, I love this twist featuring a creamy, spicy dressing and buttery breadcrumbs for an extra kick.
Ingredients
2headsromaine lettuce, or baby spinach, washed and chopped
Spicy Caesar Dressing Ingredients:
1cupCaesar dressing, store-bought or homemade
1-2teaspoonshot sauce or cayenne pepper, adjust to taste
½cupgrated Parmesan cheese
1cupcroutons, homemade or store-bought
Instructions
Wash and thoroughly dry the 2 heads romaine lettuce or fresh baby spinach, then chop it into bite-sized pieces. This ensures the dressing clings evenly to each leaf.
In a bowl, combine your 1 cup Caesar dressing with 1-2 teaspoons hot sauce or cayenne pepper or a pinch of cayenne pepper. Stir well and taste, adjusting the spice level to your liking.
In a large salad bowl, add the chopped romaine. Pour the spicy Caesar dressing over the lettuce and gently toss until all the leaves are evenly coated.½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese and 1 cup croutonsover the salad. Toss lightly again to mix all the ingredients without crushing the croutons.
