½cupsoy sauce
¼cupbrown sugar
2tbsphoney
2clovesgarlic, minced
1tspfresh ginger, grated
2tbsprice vinegar
½cupwater
1tbspcornstarch , + 2 tbsp water, for the cornstarch slurry
1tspsesame oil
Instructions
Start by adding ½ cup soy sauce, ¼ cup brown sugar, 2 tbsp honey, 2 cloves garlic, 1 tsp fresh ginger2 tbsp rice vinegar and ½ cup water to a small saucepan. Whisk everything together over medium heat until the sugar fully dissolves and the mixture begins to simmer.
Once it starts gently bubbling, stir in a 1 tbsp cornstarch to thicken the sauce. Keep stirring for 2–3 minutes until it turns glossy, smooth, and coats the back of a spoon.
Remove from heat and finish with 1 tsp sesame oil for that signature restaurant-style flavor. Let it cool slightly before using as a glaze, marinade, or dipping sauce.
