1poundfresh asparagus
2tablespoonsolive oil, or vegetable oil
1teaspoonsalt
1cupbalsamic vinegar
1/2cupheavy cream
2tablespoonsgrated Parmesan cheese, for the sauce
1tablespoonParmesan cheese, for garnish
1lemon, optional
2teaspoonschopped tomatoes, optional
Instructions
Wash and trim the tough ends off 1 pound fresh asparagus Pat dry with a paper towel.
In a bowl or large Ziploc bag, toss the asparagus with 2 tablespoons olive oil and 1 teaspoon salt until evenly coated.
Arrange the asparagus in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Set air fryer temperature to 400 degrees F (200°C) and set cook time for 6-8 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until tender and slightly crispy.
(Optional Sauce): While the asparagus cooks, heat 1 cup balsamic vinegar and 1/2 cup heavy cream in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir in 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese and cook for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
(Optional Serving): Plate the roasted asparagus, drizzle with the balsamic Parmesan sauce, and garnish with 1 tablespoon Parmesan cheese, optional lemon juice, and 2 teaspoons chopped tomatoes. Serve with a few slices of 1 lemon.
Oven Roasted (The Classic): Roasting at 425 degrees F for 12–15 minutes creates a deep, caramelized flavor and a satisfyingly firm texture. This is the ultimate method for large family dinners since you can easily cook multiple bunches at once on a single sheet pan.
Outdoor Grilling: Grilling over medium-high heat for 6–10 minutes adds a distinct smoky char that perfectly complements summer BBQs. To prevent smaller spears from falling through the grates, lay them perpendicular to the bars or use a dedicated grill basket for an even sear.
Pan-Searing (The Stovetop Method): Pan-searing in a hot skillet allows you to achieve restaurant-quality "charred" edges in under 8 minutes. By letting the spears sit undisturbed for the first few minutes, you develop a golden-brown crust that stays crisp and flavorful.
