Description

Recreate Blue Bell's Homemade In The Shade at home with your Ninja Creami! Rich, creamy homemade vanilla ice cream swirled with a ribbon of chocolate fudge — an easy copycat recipe for a nostalgic Texas favorite.

Ingredients 

  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons thick chocolate fudge sauce

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the sugar, cream cheese, salt, and a splash of the milk until completely smooth.
  • Whisk in the remaining milk, heavy cream, and vanilla extract until fully combined.
  • Pour into a Ninja Creami pint container, leaving ½ inch of headspace. Freeze level for 24 hours.
  • Run the "Ice Cream" setting. If crumbly, add 1 tablespoon milk and run "Re-Spin" until creamy.
  • Dig a trench in the center, spoon in the chocolate fudge, and run a single "Mix-In" — or fold by hand for a bolder swirl.
  • Serve immediately for soft serve, or freeze 15–30 minutes for a scoopable texture.

Notes

Use a thick, scoopable fudge so the swirl holds. Don't over-spin after adding the fudge or it will blend into the base. The cream cheese is the secret to that dense, Blue Bell-style texture — don't skip it.
