Description

Elevate your Salisbury Steak experience with a luxurious mushroom gravy, perfectly complementing the succulent and flavorful beef patties.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef, lean
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 packet onion-mushroom soup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup Italian breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • 8 ounces mushrooms , sliced
  • 21 ounces mushroom gravy
  • 1 teaspoon salt, to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, egg, mushroom soup mix, Worcestershire sauce, and Italian breadcrumbs. Mix until well combined.
  • Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into oval-shaped patties.
  • Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the patties and cook until browned on both sides, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add 1 tablespoon of oil, add the sliced mushrooms. Cook until softened and lightly browned, about 5-7 minutes. Gradually pour in the mushroom gravy, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Bring to a simmer and cook until the gravy thickens, about 3-5 minutes.
  • Return the cooked patties to the skillet, nestling them into the gravy. Simmer for another 5-10 minutes, until the patties are cooked through and the flavors have melded together.

Equipment

  • Saucepan
  • Spatula
