Description

A 5-minute homemade copycat of Dan-O's Original Seasoning — a low-sodium, sugar-free, all-purpose blend of garlic, onion, citrus peel, rosemary, and mustard that's good on Dan near anything.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons granulated garlic
  • 2 tablespoons granulated onion
  • 1 tablespoon fine sea salt, reduce to taste for lower sodium
  • 1 tablespoon dried lemon peel
  • 1 tablespoon dried orange peel
  • 1 tablespoon dried rosemary, finely crushed or ground
  • 1 teaspoon ground mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, optional
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme, optional

Instructions

  • Crush or grind the dried rosemary until fine and even.
  • Add all ingredients to a small bowl.
  • Whisk until uniform in color and texture, with no clumps.
  • Taste and adjust salt, garlic, or citrus to your preference.
  • Transfer to an airtight jar or shaker bottle. Sprinkle generously on anything.

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk

Notes

  • For a shaker-friendly texture, pulse the finished blend in a clean spice grinder.
  • Store airtight, away from heat and light, for up to 6 months.
  • Make it salt-free by omitting the sea salt, or add cayenne for a spicy version.
  • This is a homemade copycat inspired by Dan-O's labeled ingredients, not the exact commercial recipe.
