Make your own Homemade Chili Garlic Sauce with this Huy Fong copycat recipe! Full of fresh chilies, garlic, and vinegar, this spicy, flavorful sauce is perfect for stir-fries, marinades, and dipping.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz red jalapeño peppers, stemmed and chopped
  • 2 heads garlic, peeled
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/3 cup white distilled vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons water, divided
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch

Instructions

  • In a food processor or blender, combine the chopped red jalapeño peppers, garlic, salt, sugar, vinegar, and 1 tablespoon of water. Blend until slightly chunky.
  • Transfer the mixture to a saucepan and simmer over medium heat for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally. This will allow the flavors to meld.
  • In a small bowl, mix the remaining 1 tablespoon of water with the cornstarch to make a slurry. Stir this into the sauce and cook for an additional 1–2 minutes until thickened.
  • Remove the sauce from heat and let it cool completely. Store it in an airtight jar in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Equipment

  • Saucepan
  • Whisk
