Description

Soft, flaky peach scones loaded with juicy fresh peaches and finished with a sweet cream glaze. Make them in the air fryer or the oven.

Ingredients

Peach Scones

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • cup granulated sugar
  • teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter, cold
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 cups peaches, chopped and patted dry

Cream Glaze

  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons heavy whipping cream

Instructions

  • Sift the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt into a medium mixing bowl.
  • Cut the cold butter into ½-tablespoon pieces and add to the dry ingredients. Using a pastry blender or two forks, cut the butter in until it's broken down into pea-sized pieces.
  • Add the buttermilk and almond extract and stir just until a rough, shaggy dough forms.
  • Fold in the chopped peaches gently, without crushing them.
  • Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and divide in half. Pat each half into a circle no more than ¾ inch thick.
  • Score each round into wedges and lift carefully into a greased, parchment-lined air fryer basket.
  • Air fry at 350°F for 12 to 15 minutes, until golden and a toothpick comes out clean. Repeat with the second round.
  • Whisk together the powdered sugar, almond extract, and cream, adding cream gradually until it reaches a drizzling consistency. Drizzle over cooled scones and let set.

Equipment

  • Parchment Paper
  • Cooking Spray, optional

Notes

Oven Directions
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  2. Follow steps 1 through 5 above.
  3. Place the rounds on a parchment-lined baking sheet with at least 2 inches between them.
  4. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, until golden brown. Cool, then glaze.

Notes

  • Cook time reflects two batches at 15 minutes each. If your air fryer basket fits both rounds at once, total time drops to about 30 minutes.
  • Pat peaches dry regardless of whether they're fresh, frozen, or canned.
  • Keep butter cold and visible in the flour for the flakiest texture.
  • Store at room temperature up to 2 days, refrigerated up to 5 days, or frozen up to 2 months.
