Ingredients
1poundcalamari rings, cleaned and patted dry
1cupall-purpose flour
¼cupcornmeal
1teaspoonsalt
½teaspoonblack pepper
½teaspoongarlic powder
½teaspoonpaprika
1cupbuttermilk
Lemon wedges & marinara sauce, for serving
Instructions
Place the calamari rings in a bowl with the buttermilk and let them soak for 15–20 minutes in the fridge. This helps tenderize and add flavor.
In a shallow bowl, mix together flour, cornmeal, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
Remove the calamari from the buttermilk (shaking off excess) and dredge each ring in the flour mixture until well coated.
Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3–5 minutes.
Lightly spray the air fryer basket with olive oil spray. Place calamari in a single layer (work in batches if needed) and spray the tops with more oil.
Air fry for 8–10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until calamari are golden brown and crispy.
Serve hot with lemon wedges and a side of marinara sauce for dipping
