In a medium bowl, whisk together the 1 3/4 cup all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking powder and 1 teaspoon salt Set aside.
In a large bowl, use a hand or stand mixer to cream the softened 1 1/2 sticks butter and 1/2 cup granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in the 1 large egg and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract until fully combined.
Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until a soft dough forms. Do not overmix.
Roll the dough into small balls (about 1 inch each). Place them on a parchment-lined air fryer tray or air fryer basket.
Press your thumb or the back of a spoon into the center of each dough ball to create a small well.
Spoon a small amount of your favorite 1 cup jam into each thumbprint.
Place the tray in the air fryer and set air fryer temperature to 320 degrees F and set cook time for 6–8 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden and centers are set.
Allow cookies to cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.
