Description

A copycat Wendy's Vanilla Frosty made with five ingredients and no ice cream maker. Malted milk powder is the secret to that real drive-thru flavor — thick, cold, and spoonable.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups whole milk
  • ¾ cup sweetened condensed milk, about half a can
  • 4 tablespoons malted milk powder
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 8 ounces whipped topping, thawed
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt, optional

Instructions

  • Add the whole milk, sweetened condensed milk, malted milk powder, vanilla extract, and salt to a blender. Blend about 30 seconds until the malt powder is fully dissolved.
  • Add the thawed whipped topping and pulse just 2–3 times, or fold in by hand. Do not over-blend.
  • Pour into a 9x13 dish. Freeze 3–4 hours, stirring and scraping the edges into the center every 45 minutes.
  • When thick enough to hold a spoon upright briefly, scoop into cups and serve immediately.

Equipment

  • Blender
  • 9x13 Baking Dish
  • Rubber Spatula

Notes

Malted milk powder is the flavor that makes this taste like Wendy's — don't skip it. The scraping step replaces churning; without it the texture turns icy. Freezing dulls both vanilla and salt, so season the base more heavily than tastes right at room temperature.
