Make Jimmy John's tuna salad at home with canned tuna, creamy mayo, crunchy celery, onion, and a splash of soy sauce. Pile it on a sub roll for a copycat Totally Tuna sandwich in minutes.
Ingredients
Tuna salad
10ouncestuna, chunk light tuna in water, drained very well
1/3cupmayonnaise
1/4cupcelery, finely diced (about 1 stalk)
2tablespoonswhite onion, finely diced
2teaspoonssoy sauce
1/8teaspoonBlack pepper, to taste
For the sandwiches
4French rolls or sub rolls
1small cucumber, thinly sliced
1 to 2tomatoes, sliced
2cupsshredded iceberg lettuce
Instructions
Drain the tuna. Press the tuna in a fine-mesh strainer until as much water as possible is removed.
Dice the veggies. Finely dice the celery and onion.
Mix the tuna salad. In a medium bowl, flake the tuna with a fork. Add the mayonnaise, celery, onion, 1 teaspoon soy sauce, and pepper. Stir until evenly combined.
Season to taste. Add more soy sauce or mayo if needed.
Chill. Cover and refrigerate for at least 20 minutes.
Build the sandwiches. Spread tuna salad on the bottom of each roll. Top with cucumber, tomato, and shredded lettuce. Close and serve.
