Description

This copycat Buc-ee's Ranchin' Saltines recipe turns a box of saltines into crispy, herby ranch crackers with just five pantry ingredients. Bake them, air fry them, or let them soak overnight with no oven at all.

Ingredients

  • 16 ounces saltine crackers
  • 1 cup canola oil, or vegetable oil
  • 1 ounces dry ranch dressing mix, packet, 1
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • Optional: ¼ teaspoon cayenne, 1 tablespoon buttermilk powder

Instructions

  • Whisk the oil, ranch mix, dill, garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, and any optional add-ins together until smooth.
  • Stand the saltine sleeves on their edges in a 2-gallon zip-top bag or large lidded container.
  • Pour the seasoned oil over the crackers, seal, and gently turn every few minutes for 15–20 minutes until the oil is absorbed.
  • No-bake: Leave sealed for 4 hours or overnight, then serve.
  • Oven: Spread in a single layer on sheet pans and bake at 250°F for 15–20 minutes. Cool completely.
  • Air fryer: Cook in a single layer at 300°F for 3–4 minutes, watching closely.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 1–2 weeks.

Equipment

  • Baking Sheet or Air Fryer
  • Bowl or Zip-top bag

Notes

Stir the oil mixture right before pouring, because the herbs settle quickly. For a thinner coating, cut the oil to ¾ cup.
