:Crispy frozen onion rings made two ways on a Blackstone — right on the flat-top griddle or in the Air Fryer Drawer. No deep frying, ready in about 17 minutes, and the perfect crunchy side for smash burgers, hot dogs, and brats.
Ingredients
20ouncesfrozen onion rings, (any brand)
Oil spray, for crisping (optional — avocado, canola, or vegetable oil)
1/2teaspoonSalt, to taste
Instructions
Method 1 — On the Flat-Top Griddle
Preheat the griddle to medium-high (about 375°F) for 5–10 minutes, until the surface is evenly hot.
Spread a thin layer of oil on the griddle, or lightly spray the onion rings instead.
Arrange the frozen rings in a single layer so they aren't touching. Work in batches if needed — crowding steams them.
Cook 10–12 minutes total, turning with tongs every 2–3 minutes, until golden and crisp and heated through.
Season with salt while hot and serve immediately.
Method 2 — In the Air Fryer Drawer (Blackstone Combo)
Preheat the Air Fryer Drawer about 5 minutes at 400°F.
Add the frozen onion rings in a single layer in the basket.
Air fry about 10 minutes, shaking the basket 2–3 times so they crisp evenly.
Remove when golden and crispy, salt to taste, and serve.
Equipment
Blackstone griddle or flat-top grill (or Blackstone Griddle Combo with Air Fryer Drawer),
Tongs or griddle spatula
Oil sprayer or squeeze bottle
Notes
Cook straight from frozen — don't thaw, or the breading won't hold.
A single, uncrowded layer is the key to crunch.
Keep finished batches crisp in a 200°F oven on a wire rack.
Great with ketchup, ranch, BBQ sauce, or spicy chipotle mayo.
