Oven Method
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with foil and set a wire rack on top.
- Arrange twisted strips on the wire rack. Bake 20 minutes, flip each strip, bake 15–20 more minutes until desired crispness.
- Drain on paper towels and rest 2 minutes before serving.
The bread trick is non-negotiable if you're using sugary variations — caramelizing sugar drips burn faster than plain fat. Do not cook at 400°F+ with bacon; 350°F gives you more control and far less smoke. Strips can touch in the basket but must not overlap. Cooked bacon keeps in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. Reheat in the air fryer at 350°F for 2–3 minutes to restore crispiness.
