Ingredients 

  • 8 ounces tempeh, cut into 1/2-inch strips or cubes
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil, or any preferred oil
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce, or tamari for gluten-free
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup, optional for a touch of sweetness
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger, optional
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Slice the tempeh into strips or cubes based on your preference. For a softer texture, steam the tempeh for 5-10 minutes before marinating (optional for firmer texture).
  • In a bowl, combine olive oil, soy sauce, maple syrup, garlic powder, smoked paprika, ginger, salt, and pepper. Add the sliced tempeh, tossing to coat evenly, and let it marinate for 10-15 minutes, or up to 30 minutes for more flavor.
  • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  • Place the marinated tempeh in the air fryer basket in a single layer, working in batches if necessary. Air fry for 10-12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  • Once done, remove the tempeh from the air fryer and let it cool slightly. Serve it over rice, in salads, wraps, or enjoy it as a tasty, protein-packed snack!
