Crispy, sesame-topped homemade shrimp toast made from scratch in the air fryer — a fresh take on the classic dim sum appetizer, with none of the deep-frying mess.
Ingredients
lbraw shrimp, peeled and deveined
1egg white
1tablespooncornstarch
1teaspoontoasted sesame oil
1tablespoonsoy sauce, or 1 teaspoon fish sauce
1teaspoonfresh grated ginger
1clovesgarlic, minced
2green onions, finely chopped
½teaspoonsugar
¼teaspoonwhite pepper
½teaspoonsalt
4sliceswhite sandwich bread, crusts removed
Sesame seeds, for coating
Instructions
Pat the shrimp very dry. Add to a food processor with the egg white, cornstarch, sesame oil, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, sugar, white pepper, and salt. Pulse to a coarse paste. Stir in the green onions.
Trim the crusts from the bread. Spread the shrimp paste thickly and evenly over each slice.
Press the shrimp side firmly into a plate of sesame seeds to coat. Cut each slice into 4 triangles.
Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Arrange the toasts shrimp-side up in a single layer and mist lightly with oil.
Air fry for 8 to 10 minutes, until golden and the shrimp is opaque and cooked through.
