Description

Air Fryer Salsa Chicken: A quick and flavorful recipe featuring juicy chicken smothered in zesty salsa. Perfect for tacos, bowls, or a low-carb dinner. Ready in under 30 minutes!

Ingredients 

  • 4 small boneless skinless chicken breasts, about 8-ounce boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon taco seasoning
  • 1 ½ cup salsa
  • 1 cup Cheddar cheese, shredded

Toppings: Lime Wedges, Fresh herbs, etc.

Instructions

  • Start by preheating your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). This ensures even cooking.
  • Take boneless, skinless chicken breasts and pat them dry. This helps the seasoning stick better.
  • Season the chicken breasts generously on both sides with taco seasoning. You can either use a store-bought mix or make your own blend with spices like cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  • Place the seasoned chicken breasts in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Make sure they are not touching, so they cook evenly.
  • Cook for about 7-10 minutes, then flip the chicken breasts over. The exact time will depend on the thickness of the chicken.
  • After flipping, spoon your favorite salsa over each chicken breast. Be generous with the salsa; it adds moisture and flavor.
  • Sprinkle a good amount of shredded cheese (such as cheddar or a Mexican blend) over the salsa-covered chicken.
  • Continue to air fry for another 7-10 minutes or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Once cooked, let the chicken rest for a few minutes. This helps in retaining the juices.
  • Garnish with chopped fresh cilantro and serve with a wedge of lime if desired. The cilantro adds freshness, and the lime juice can brighten up the flavors.
  • Serve your Air Fryer Salsa Chicken with sides like rice, beans, or a fresh salad. It can also be sliced and used in tacos or burritos.
