Description

Enjoy all the flavor of a classic Philly cheesesteak in a juicy, low-carb form — steak, onions, and melted cheese stuffed into tender air-fried bell peppers, ready in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 pound shaved steak, or thinly sliced steak
  • ½ cup onion, diced
  • 1 large bell pepper, halved and seeded
  • 4 teaspoons olive oil, for the peppers
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese, or provolone

Instructions

  • Heat 2 tablespoons olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until soft and translucent, then stir in the steak and cook until browned.
  • While the steak cooks, halve the bell pepper and remove the seeds. Rub olive oil over the inside and outside of each half.
  • Place the peppers cut-side down in the air fryer basket. Air fry at 400°F for 5 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • Fill the roasted peppers with the steak and onion mixture and top generously with cheese.
  • Return to the air fryer at 400°F for 3–5 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Plate and serve hot.

Equipment

  • Cooking Spray
  • Parchment Paper, optional

Notes

Ribeye or sirloin both work well — the key is a thin cut. Drain any excess liquid from the filling before stuffing to keep the peppers from getting soggy. For a party appetizer, use halved mini sweet peppers instead of full bell peppers.
