There is nothing better than Air Fryer Onion Rings. I mean, it’s one of the best dishes you can make in your air fryer.
Ingredients
2large onions, preferably sweet variety
1cupall-purpose flour
2eggs, beaten
1cupbuttermilk, or milk
1½cupsPanko breadcrumbs
½teaspoonpaprika
1/2teaspoonKosher salt, or taste
1/4teaspoonBlack pepper, or taste
Instructions
Begin by peeling the onions and slicing them into about ½-inch thick rings. Carefully separate the rings from each other.
In a shallow dish, combine the flour with salt, pepper, and paprika. In another dish, whisk together the eggs and milk. Place the Panko breadcrumbs in a third dish.
Dip each onion ring first into the flour mixture, ensuring it's lightly coated. Shake off any excess flour. Next, dip the ring into the egg mixture, and then finally coat it well with the Panko breadcrumbs. Set the coated rings aside on a plate.
Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). This step is crucial for getting a crispy texture.
Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Arrange the onion rings in a single layer in the basket. Avoid overcrowding, as this can prevent them from cooking evenly.
Spray the onion rings lightly with cooking spray. Cook them in the air fryer for about 6-8 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy. You may need to flip them halfway through cooking for even crispness.
Once cooked, remove the onion rings from the air fryer and serve them hot. They are best enjoyed fresh for maximum crispiness.
