Ingredients
3cupsall-purpose flour
2teaspoonbaking powder
1cupgranulated sugar
2sticksbutter, room temperature and unsalted
1largeegg
1teaspoonpure vanilla extract
Food Coloring: Pink and Red
1/2cupSprinkles
Instructions
In a small bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder. In a separate bowl, cream the butter and sugar for about 2 minutes until light and fluffy. Gradually add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
Slowly fold the flour mixture into the butter mixture until fully combined. Divide the dough into three portions, adding red food coloring to one portion and pink to another.
Roll out the red and pink dough to about ½ inch thickness, then use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out hearts from each color. Once all hearts are cut, stack them on a piece of plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Roll the uncolored dough into a large log, then wrap it around the chilled hearts, pressing firmly to secure. Pour some sprinkles into a small dish and press them onto the outside of the dough log. Refrigerate the dough log for 2–3 hours to firm up.
After chilling, slice the dough into ½ inch pieces and place them on parchment paper in the air fryer basket. Cook at 320°F on the air fryer setting for 5–6 minutes, until lightly golden. Allow cookies to cool—they will harden as they set.
