Description

Crispy air fryer green beans and potatoes made in one basket. Staggering the cook time gives the potatoes golden edges and keeps the green beans tender-crisp — ready in about 25 minutes with no boiling

Ingredients

  • pounds baby gold or red potatoes, cut into ¾-inch pieces
  • 12 ounces fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder, divided
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder, divided
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika, divided (optional)
  • ¾ teaspoon kosher salt, divided
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper, divided

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (193°C) for 3–5 minutes.
  • Cut the potatoes into even ¾-inch pieces and trim the green beans. Pat both completely dry.
  • In one bowl, toss the potatoes with 1½ tablespoons olive oil and about two-thirds of the seasonings. In a separate bowl, toss the green beans with the remaining oil and seasonings.
  • Add the potatoes to the basket in a single layer. Cook for 10 minutes, shaking at the 5-minute mark.
  • Add the green beans to the basket and shake to combine. Cook for another 10–12 minutes, shaking every 4 minutes, until the potatoes are fork-tender and golden and the green beans are blistered but still snappy.
  • Season to taste and serve immediately.

Equipment

  • Cooking Spray
  • Parchment Paper, optional

Notes

  • Cook in two batches if your air fryer is smaller than 5 quarts.
  • For frozen green beans, add them unthawed after the potatoes have cooked 8 minutes.
