Description

Frozen asparagus cooked straight from the bag in the air fryer at 400°F for 10 minutes. No thawing, no draining — tender spears with browned tips, ready as a side dish in under 15 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 12 ounces frozen asparagus spears, about 1 bag
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil, or avocado oil
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  • Place the frozen asparagus directly into the air fryer basket in a single layer. Do not thaw or rinse.
  • Drizzle with the oil and season with salt and pepper. Toss gently in the basket to coat.
  • Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 10 minutes, shaking the basket after 5 minutes.
  • Check for doneness — the tips should be lightly browned and a spear should bend without snapping. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Do not thaw. Thawed asparagus releases water into the basket and steams instead of roasting.
  • Thin spears: 8 minutes. Thick spears: 12 minutes.
  • No preheat needed — start with a cold basket.
  • Cook in two batches rather than crowding the basket. The second batch will take about 8 minutes.
  • Add Parmesan, lemon, or fresh herbs after cooking, never before.
