Description

Crispy, golden baguette slices in 4 minutes — the easiest appetizer base there is. Three ingredients, no oven, and one garlic trick that makes all the difference.

Ingredients

  • 1 French baguette, sliced ½-inch thick on the diagonal
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 garlic clove, halved (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon flaky sea salt

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer to 400°F for 3 minutes.
  • Slice the baguette on a diagonal into ½-inch slices. Brush both sides of each slice lightly with olive oil.
  • Arrange the slices in the air fryer basket in a single layer, without overlapping. Work in batches if needed.
  • Air fry at 400°F for 3–4 minutes, until the edges are golden and the surface is crisp. Start checking at 3 minutes — they go from golden to burnt quickly.
  • Rub the cut side of the garlic clove across the top of each hot slice, then sprinkle with sea salt. Let cool 2 minutes before adding toppings.

Equipment

  • Cooking Spray
  • Parchment Paper, optional

Notes

  • Day-old bread crisps better than fresh.
  • Don't crowd the basket — overlapping slices steam instead of crisping.
  • Store cooled crostini airtight at room temperature up to 3 days, or freeze up to 1 month. Refresh at 350°F for 1–2 minutes.
  • Oven method: 400°F for 8–10 minutes on a sheet pan, flipping once.
