Description

This easy Air Fryer Chocolate Chip Mug Cake is a warm, gooey single-serving dessert ready in just 10 minutes. Made with 8 simple pantry staples and loaded with melty chocolate chips, it bakes up golden and fluffy in the air fryer — no oven or microwave needed!

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar, packed
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
  • ¼ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons semi-sweet chocolate chips, divided

Instructions

  • Prep the mug: Lightly grease a 10–12 ounce oven-safe mug or ramekin with cooking spray or softened butter.
  • Mix dry ingredients: In the mug or a small bowl, whisk together the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt until no lumps remain.
  • Add wet ingredients: Stir in the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until just combined — do not overmix.
  • Add chocolate chips: Fold in most of the chocolate chips, then sprinkle the remaining chips on top.
  • Air fry: Place the mug in the air fryer basket. Air fry at 320°F (160°C) for 8–10 minutes, until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted between the chocolate chips comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Cool and serve: Carefully remove the mug (it will be HOT) and let cool for 2–3 minutes. Top with ice cream or whipped cream and serve warm.

Equipment

  • Mug or Ramekin, Oven-Safe
  • Cooking Spray

Notes

  • Mug safety: Only use mugs or ramekins labeled oven-safe — if it's oven-safe, it's air fryer-safe. Never use plastic, paper, or metallic-painted mugs.
  • Don't overfill: Fill the mug no more than two-thirds full; the batter rises as it bakes.
  • Air fryers vary: Start checking at 8 minutes. Basket-style air fryers often run hotter than oven-style models.
  • No air fryer? Microwave on high for 60–90 seconds, or bake at 350°F for 12–15 minutes.
  • Storage: Best enjoyed fresh and warm. Leftovers keep covered at room temperature for 1 day; reheat in the air fryer at 300°F for 2–3 minutes.
